Pace like fire to dim the English

Despite not having won a a series in England since 2001, the Australians are understandable hot favourites entering the first Test match in Cardiff. The extra pace of Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Johnson is seen as Australia’s trump card, having played key roles in the two lead up games against Kent and Essex.

Starc took  nine wickets in the win against Essex while Johnson took five against Kent.

They will be joined in the XI by Josh Hazelwood, now that Ryan Harris has retired. PeterSiddle will miss the match.

The only selection debate is which of the two Marsh brothers will play, Shaun or Mitchell. Both have made centuries on tour, Mitchell back to back tons. He also has four wickets. However, Shane Watson may still play ahead of him given his extra experience.

We are in Cardiff with our Australian Cricket Society/Events Worldwide group and looking forward to a great contest, the form of England’s No 1 player Joe Root all important in an even contest.
